Should the Green Bay Packers trade for Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson?
The Green Bay Packers have been named an ideal landing spot for Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson by NFL analyst Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report.
Knox believes the Packers should trade for Richardson, who requested a trade from the Colts in February.
Richardson was the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He has been a bust with the Colts. The Florida product has 2,400 passing yards, 11 passing touchdowns and 13 interceptions in the NFL.
After losing Malik Willis to the Miami Dolphins in free agency, the Packers signed Tyrod Taylor, who played for the New York Jets last season. Taylor will be Green Bay's No. 2 QB behind Jordan Love.
In May, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN proposed the following trade between the Colts and Packers:

"Richardson wants to be in a variation of the McVay-Shanahan-LaFleur system and took notice of what Packers coach Matt LaFleur did with Malik Willis," Fowler wrote. "Green Bay signed Tyrod Taylor earlier this month but at a modest $2.5 million. With this trade, Indianapolis adds much-needed draft capital and moves forward with Riley Leonard as its No. 2 quarterback. And Green Bay asks Indy to cover a portion of Richardson's $5.4 million in 2026 guarantees."
It will be interesting to see if the Packers pursue a trade for Richardson. For now, Green Bay appears focused on winning big in the Love era.
Love has turned into a solid QB under Matt LaFleur. The 27-year-old finished last season with 3,381 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns while completing 66.3% of his passes.
Love enters next season with 11,535 passing yards and 83 passing touchdowns. He's 27-20-1 as a starter.
The Packers lost to the Chicago Bears in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs. Green Bay hasn't won a playoff game since 2023, but Love is viewed by his peers as a franchise guy.
Don't believe me? Just ask newcomer Zaire Franklin, who was teammates with Richardson in Indianapolis.
"It starts with the quarterback," Franklin told NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. "Jordan Love. I told him he was the main reason I came to Green Bay. I wasn't coming to Green Bay or going to an organization without a proven franchise QB. He is that. He's the type of quarterback you want to be around. Great manner in the locker room, competes his ass off, is constantly working to get better. It's been a long time since I've seen a QB1 just really raising the level of everybody by his work ethic like that. It's really dope to see."
For the Packers to make the playoffs in 2026, Love has to put up MVP numbers because Green Bay's defense won't be elite until Micah Parsons returns from his ACL tear.
