Skyy Moore’s explosive 208-yard performance against the New York Jets shattered years of stagnant returns for the Green Bay Packers.
It feels like it has been years since the Green Bay Packers played this well on special teams.
The addition of Skyy Moore has already paid off in a big way as he flipped field position more than once in the team's 20-17 overtime victory over the New York Jets.
Now 1-1, the Packers have quite a few players to thank, and Moore is one of those. He's an unsung hero, to say the least, and arguably should've set up a game-winning touchdown drive in regulation.
Regardless, his 63-yard punt return helped the Packers tie this game late as part of overcoming a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit.
Packers fans know the two things that have haunted this team are special teams and the fourth quarter, and when combined, they've given this team some of their worst nightmares in recent memory.
Here in 2026, Moore is looking to put an end to all of that, and he made an emphatic statement as one of the key contributors to the Packers' Week 2 victory.
Moore already has returns longer than the Packers had during the entire 2025 season
Last season, the Packers didn't have a single kick return over 36 yards. Against the Jets, Moore had a 43-yard kickoff return that set the Packers up with beautiful field position.
If that's not impressive enough, his 63-yard punt return was well above what they've had in recent memory. In 2025, this team didn't have a single punt return over 20 yards.
Keisean Nixon used to make magic on his returns, but that quickly faded, and the Packers had an incredibly hard time replacing him.
During the offseason, they went out and got Moore, and it's a $2.5 million contract that seems to have solved one of their biggest problems.
Tucker Kraft praises Moore
"Best in the league ... I told him, 'When that ball's coming down in the air, man, you gotta just keep reminding yourself you are the best in the league at what you do," Tucker Kraft said after the game, according to The Athletic's Matt Schneidman.
Moore discusses his 208-yard day
"I get joy out of seeing where I can get Jordan (Love) in field position," he said, according to Packers' Weston Hodkiewicz. "My goal is to hit the 50 every time. That’s what I wanna do. Coach might say 35 or something, but I’m trying to get in field goal range off the rip. It felt good."
It was a successful day for Moore as he returned four kickoffs for 116 yards and four punts for 92 yards.
If that wasn't good enough, he hauled in his first two receptions of the year for six receiving yards.
