Green Bay Packers' Jordan Love overcame a mountain of penalties and early injuries to orchestrate a gritty overtime comeback victory.
The Green Bay Packers went to MetLife Stadium and were met with a pair of injuries on the first three plays.
Everything was working against them in this one, and they trailed the New York Jets 17-7 in the fourth quarter.
Despite being penalized 14 times for 133 yards, Jordan Love was able to lead a game-winning drive in overtime that secured the Packers their first win of the season, 20-17.
1. Love can still win without Jayden Reed
Love had to play basically this entire game without Jayden Reed, so it was great to see him focus on Christian Watson and Matthew Golden as much as he did. He's going to need other weapons to emerge, and it's also been a relatively quiet start for star tight end Tucker Kraft.
2. Love needs to use his legs more
In the last few plays of regulation, there seemed to be a ton of open space in the middle of the field. Love ran the ball for a touchdown that was called back, and while getting hit helmet-to-helmet may have scared him, there are still quite a few instances where he could extend drives by running for a first down.
3. MarShawn Lloyd's First Career Touchdown
It didn't come on the ground, but finally, MarShawn Lloyd has his first career touchdown. With Josh Jacobs still on the Commissioner's Exempt List, this was a true running back by committee game, and it was one that saw Lloyd finish with a reception touchdown.
4. Golden made up for an early drop
The injuries got this game started off in a rough way, but so did a drop from Golden. If that was Aaron Rodgers who threw him the ball, he never would've targeted him again in this game. Regardless, Golden made a huge catch in overtime and led the way with four receptions for 58 yards.
5. Lukas Van Ness is a beast
For those who were waiting for an LVN breakout, the time is now. Van Ness was tied for a team high with 10 tackles (seven solo) and picked up a huge sack and a half in a game that saw him record four QB hits and three tackles for loss.
6. This defense is special
Other than Keisean Nixon, basically everyone did their part in this one. Evan Williams had 10 tackles, Edgerrin Cooper had eight along with a sack, and rookie Brandon Cisse came up with a huge play in overtime. Javon Bullard did his thing, as did Xavier McKinney, and this was a true team win on the defensive side of the ball.
