Green Bay Packers' star tight end Tucker Kraft has continue to prove himself as one of the best players at his position after a huge performance against the Washington Commanders.

Ron Kramer. Jermichael Finley. Mark Chmura. The list goes on with all the talented tight ends the Green Bay Packers have possessed throughout history. But there's a new name that has begun to carve his name amongst the greats, and that's Tucker Kraft.

After a breakout season in 2024 with the Packers, the 24-year-old tight end is continuing to dominate heading into his third season in the NFL. Kraft was quiet in his first start of the 2025 season, but quickly emerged on the scene on Thursday during the team's week two battle against the Washington Commanders.

In the primetime matchup against a playoff-contending team, Kraft managed to tally six catches for 124 yards and one touchdown during the 27-18 victory.

After being selected in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Kraft has been the perfect tight end for quarterback Jordan Love. The former South Dakota State Jackrabbit managed to beat out the team's second round pick in the same draft in Luke Musgrave in 2024 after notching 50 catches for 707 yards and seven touchdowns.

Why Kraft Is Next Up For Green Bay

It was obvious that Kraft would eventually become a star while in college. Throughout his three years at the collegiate level, the young talent record 94 catches for 1,135 yards and nine touchdowns. However, a combination of playing two games in 2020 due to COVID-19 and missing six games in 2022 with a foot injury, Kraft managed to fall into the hands of the Packers on day two of the 2023 Draft.

For Green Bay's head coach Matt LaFleur, the tight end position is a key piece of the team's offensive attack. This was clear when the franchise selected two tight ends in the same draft with Musgrave and Kraft. LaFleur's usage of heavy personnel (multiple tight ends or running backs) is one of the highest in the NFL, which gives plenty of opportunities for Kraft in the passing game.

In addition to being part of a scheme that favors tight ends, the big-time playmaker has a terrific combination of size, strength and agility that allows him to be Love's safety blanket through the air. At 6-foot-5, 259 lbs., Kraft has a perfect frame to excel as a pass catcher and an adequate blocker.

With Kraft having the traits to become one of the best tight ends in the league, the highly-touted weapon is slowly putting it together, making it easier for LaFleur to call his name in important situations. If he can manage to stay healthy this season, Kraft could easily achieve his first-ever 1,000 yard season in just his third year in the NFL.
