The Carolina Panthers have been named the most "unpredictable" team through three weeks of the 2026 NFL season.

Are Carolina Panthers NFL's most unpredictable team?More Videos

The Carolina Panthers enter Week 4 with a 1-2 record, following a tough loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 3. It looked as if the Panthers had figured things out following a big Week 2 win in Atlanta, but they couldn't carry that momentum over.

Sitting at 1-2, they are heading into a Sunday Night Football matchup against the Detroit Lions, a team who is 2-1 and fresh off a win over the New York Jets. It's the first time in 10 years that the Panthers have hosted Sunday Night Football and they can make a statement with a big win.

So far this season, we have seen just about everything from the Panthers.

They opened the year with a blowout loss to the Chicago Bears, then followed it up with a blowout win over Atlanta. Last week, it was a close loss to Cleveland, a game in which they had the lead late, but a controversial call late in the game changed things.

As we get set for Week 4, John Breech of CBS Sports handed out his grades following Week 3. For the Panthers, they earned a B - despite the loss. But it's what Breech said about the Panthers that stands out.

Breech wrote that the Panthers might be the most unpredictable team in the NFL. He cites their blowout loss to the Bears, a blow out win over the Falcons and then a close loss as the reason why. He also mentions that the loss to the Browns is the type of game that the Panthers need to win if they want to repeat as NFC South champions this year.

The Panthers are trusting Bryce Young more and more as the season goes on. He's had a few standout performances, but last week's loss against Cleveland wasn't good. There were a few throws that he will want back, including a checkdown on a fourth-and-16 play in the fourth quarter. If the Panthers want to be a contender, Young has to play a lot better.

Finding their identity will be helpful moving forward and could solve the issue of being unpredictable. With the NFC South being a weak division once again, there is a big opportunity for the Panthers to take advantage of that and repeat as champions.

Carolina is set to host Detroit on Sunday night with the game to be broadcast live on NBC.
