The Carolina Panthers have released inactives for the Week 2 showdown against the Atlanta Falcons.

Week 2 presents a chance for the Carolina Panthers to earn their first win of the season and rebound after a bad Week 1. After falling to the Chicago Bears 59-37 in Week 1, Carolina is now on the road for an early-season divisional showdown.

Carolina heads to Atlanta for the Week 2 showdown with the Falcons and the first NFC South game for both teams. With the division all going 0-1 in Week 1, this is a chance for the Panthers to get a big first win.

As kickoff looms in under an hour, the Panthers have released inactives for the game.

Leading the way is outside linebacker Patrick Jones II who was questionable all week on the injury report. He will not be playing in Sunday's game against the Falcons. Defensive tackle Bobby Brown is also out as he has been dealing with a back issue all week long. He wasn't able to recover in time to play.

Below are the full inactives for the Panthers:

  • LB Patrick Jones II
  • TE Ja'Tavion Sanders
  • QB Haynes King
  • DB Chau Smith-Wade
  • LB Tyrel Dodson
  • OT Albert Reese
  • DL Bobby Brown

King will serve as the emergency third quarterback for the Panthers on Sunday. Linebacker Jeremiah Moon and safety Isaiah Simmons were elevated from the practice squad for the game.

Cam Jackson is active this week for the Panthers. Carolina will also use the rotation of Trevis Gipson, Princely Umanmielen and Thomas Incoom at outside linebacker again this week.

Below are the full Falcons inactives:

  • QB Tua Tagovailoa
  • QB Michael Penix Jr.
  • CB Billy Bowman
  • CB Malcom Dewalt
  • OT Ethan Onianwa

The Falcons are starting third-string quarterback Cooper Rush for the second straight week after he lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1. Rush played well early but as the game went on, he struggled. This presents a big chance for the Panthers, going up against a third-string quarterback.

The Panthers and Falcons are set to kick off Week 2 at 1 p.m. ET, with the game being broadcast live on FOX. The winner will have at least a share of the lead in the NFC North after the second week.
