CBS Sports has ranked the Carolina Panthers trio on offense among the worst in the NFL for the 2026 season.
The Carolina Panthers will open up training camp in just over a week as they prepare for the extra preseason game. Carolina is set to participate in the NFL Hall of Fame Game, giving them an extra chance to evaluate the roster as it stands now.
For Dave Canales' team, they have a lot of questions to answer this season. They are coming off a 2025 campaign in which they won the NFC South for the first time in over 10 years. But they did so with an 8-9 record and via a tiebreaker.
So 2026 will be a year for them to prove that they belong among the best in the NFC.
As we get set for the upcoming season, multiple rankings are coming out from NFL experts. That includes CBS Sports, which ranked every team's "triplets" in terms of quarterback, running back, and pass catcher trio.
For the Panthers, they were ranked towards the bottom of the list made by Jared Dubin. He ranked the trio of Bryce Young, Chuba Hubbard, and Tetairoa McMillan 28th overall. Here is what he said about the trio:
The Panthers moved up just one spot despite Young showing some improvement and McMillan putting together a very good debut season (70 catches for 1,014 yards and 7 touchdowns). This ranking doesn't show much faith in Young to take the next step as a passer, and that's probably what's dragging Carolina down, in addition to Hubbard being largely uninspiring in the backfield. He was overtaken by the since-departed Rico Dowdle for much of last season and has the lead role in the backfield again by default unless Jonathon Brooks can take it from him.
While the Panthers did move up one spot, it's still a disappointing ranking for the Panthers going into this season. But it's a fair one.
While McMillan appears to be a stud, there are a lot of questions still surrounding Young at quarterback. It's a big year for him to 'prove it' and earn a long-term contract. At running back, Hubbard has shown flashes at times but it's hard to confidently say he's the long-term solution, unless he proves it this season.
