The Carolina Panthers are getting ready to take on the Philadelphia Eagles this week.
The Carolina Panthers are getting ready for their Week 6 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, offering the team a chance to get over the .500 mark.
Carolina will be coming off a bye week, with the team holding a record of 2-2 this year so far. The last time that the Panthers played, they took down the Detroit Lions in a back-and-forth contest.
Entering the game, the Eagles are coming off a tough loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London that saw them meltdown at the end. Philadelphia has now lost three straight games coming into the contest with Carolina.
The Panthers will be heading out on the road for this game, traveling to Lincoln Financial Field. But now, as the team gets ready to face the Eagles, history seems to be favoring the Panthers.
The matchup between the Panthers and Eagles will mark the fifth time in NFL history where a team that had a bye will play against a squad coming off an international game. And in the past four matchups, the team that had the bye week has gone 4-0.
While this doesn't do much for the upcoming game, the trend is certainly interesting, to say the least. Carolina will come in as the more well-rested group, which could be a factor in the outcome.
The Panthers will try to keep their high-flying passing attack going strong against the Eagles, with quarterback Bryce Young staying hot. Young has generated some MVP buzz due to his play, and he has silenced all sorts of narratives that he entered the season with.
So far this season, Young has thrown for 1,268 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions. Young has looked much more comfortable in the pocket this season, with him not getting rattled at different times like in the past.
If Young can put together another strong showing against a tough Eagles defense, it could only enhance his chances to win the MVP this year. But Philadelphia does have a sturdy defensive unit that could cause some problems for Young.
Carolina will have to make sure that they protect Young, keeping him upright so he has time to throw the ball. The Panthers want to move to 3-2 on the season, while sending the Eagles to their fourth straight loss in the process.
Kickoff between the Panthers and Eagles is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. PT/1:00 p.m. ET this coming weekend.
