Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young received strong praise after helping his team take down the Lions this week.
The Carolina Panthers were able to hold off the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football, moving their record on the new season to 2-2.
Carolina entered the game with many people doubting them, but this team came to play against a high-powered offensive attack. The Panthers were able to match the Lions every step of the way, allowing the defense to do just enough to get the win.
But one of the main reasons for the Panthers win was the play from quarterback Bryce Young, who torched the Lions defense. Young finished the game throwing for 329 yards and two touchdowns, looking in complete command of the offense throughout.
The Panthers now have the best passing offense throughout the first four weeks of the NFL season, with Young playing the strongest football of his career. Carolina has been very happy with the development of Young, and he gives them a chance to win each week.
But after the game, Young was given a letter grade of "A" for his impressive outing against the Lions. NFL analyst Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report graded each quarterback around the league for their performances during the week.
Young was able to take advantage of a poor Lions secondary, and he got a lot of help from star wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan. McMillan caught 14 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns, giving Young a legitimate go-to option throughout the game.
The chemistry between Young and McMillan has been excellent to watch form over time, and it all clicked together against Detroit. Having a player like McMillan does allow Young the opportunity to get better as a player, and he has shown out all season long.
Entering the year, questions around the consistency of Young came about, following a strange 2025 season. But at least so far, the former No. 1 overall draft pick has silenced any doubters, and he is leading the Panthers well.
Carolina is still 2-2 in the season, but the defense has been the big problem for the team. If the unit is ever able to get it together, the Panthers could be legitimate contenders with how strongly Young and the offense are playing.
But after the win over the Lions, Carolina will now head into a bye week, giving themselves a chance to rest and regroup moving forward. After the bye week, the team will be heading on the road for a tough game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
