More wide receiver help may be coming for the Carolina Panthers.

It’s been a whirlwind first five weeks for the Panthers, but there’s promise and hope that their season may turn around.

From starting the season 0-2, to shutting out the Falcons 30-0, and then getting mauled by the Patriots, to pulling out a tremendous come-from-behind win against the Dolphins, who really knows what’s going on in Charlotte?

The good thing is, coach Dave Canales had opened up the 21-day practice window for wide receiver Jalen Coker, who previously spent the first five weeks on injured reserve.

If, by any reason, Coker isn’t ready to go by the end of that 21-day period, the Panthers will be forced to put him on season-ending IR per league rules.

Coker was put on IR, after the Panthers put all their faith in him.

They traded veteran receiver Adam Thielen to his hometown Minnesota Vikings, and then Coker went down with a quad strain that sidelined him for at least four weeks.

It was a brutal turn of events for both parties involved, but it forced Carolina to stick to what it’s always done – keep pounding.

For the majority of the season so far, the Panthers have gotten less-than-stellar results from former first round pick, Xavier Legette. The Carolina native posted solid numbers in his rookie season, with hope that he would build on it, and this season has been anything but that.

He caught his first touchdown pass this past Sunday in the comeback against the Dolphins, but as a whole, he’s been targeted 18 times, and has only hauled in six receptions for a whopping 39 yards – good for 6.5 yards per catch.

The one bright spot has been Tetairoa McMillan, this season’s first round draft pick who's looked the part and more.

McMillan, a player who was revered for his ability to catch 50/50 balls as well as catch for distance, has been a saving grace for quarterback Bryce Young. Opposed to Legette, he’s managed to catch 24 passes for 351 yards – or 14.6 yards per catch.

Add Coker to the mix, and Carolina’s receiver core gets that much more dangerous.

The Panthers have also found promise in their sixth round pick of the 2025 Draft, Jimmy Horn Jr., who in his NFL debut, made a few solid plays that kept the Panthers alive in the game against the Dolphins.

With Horn’s speed, he just adds a whole new dynamic to the Panthers aerial attack,

The expected return for Coker is still to be determined, but the Panthers just may have gotten the spark they were looking for.
