The Chicago Bears are still the betting favorite to land Las Vegas Raiders star edge Maxx Crosby but wide receiver DJ Moore was part of the rumored trade proposal.

A domino has fallen in the sweepstakes for Las Vegas Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby.

The Chicago Bears, the reported betting favorite to land Crosby in a trade, have agreed to trade star wide receiver DJ Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The best Bears trade package for Crosby revolved around Moore, draft capital and potentially linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, who the Raiders have interest in. A trade between the two teams could still take place, but it would now certainly include Edmunds and multiple first-round picks and Bears general manager Ryan Poles may not be willing to move multiple firsts.

It isn’t known if the Raiders actually had interest in Moore to begin with but including him in a potential deal would have made the most sense for Las Vegas. One of the many roster holes included wide receiver, and Moore is one of the most reliable and toughest at the position.

Moore, entering his age-29 season, has 608 receptions for 8,213 yards and 41 touchdowns in his eight-year career. He broke into the National Football League with the Carolina Panthers in 2018 and made an immediate impact, logging 55 receptions for 788 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games.

Moore would then produce three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, compiling 246 receptions for 3,525 yards and 12 touchdowns from 2019 to 2021. In 2022, he set a career-high in touchdowns with seven before being traded to the Bears before the 2023 season.

In 2023, Moore found immediate success with then-Bears quarterback Justin Fields, catching 96 passes for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns. In his first season with QB Caleb Williams, the two struggled to build chemistry but he still managed to log 98 receptions for 966 yards and six touchdowns.

It was even harder to get on the same page in 2025 as the Bears had numerous options in Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III and Colston Loveland, leading to the worst statistical season of Moore’s career – 50 receptions for just 682 yards and six touchdowns while averaging only 40.1 yards per game.

Despite a low point for him in 2025, Moore would have been a great WR1 for projected No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza. Moore is a great route runner despite many fans tearing him apart for the interception that ended Chicago’s season in the divisional round against the Los Angeles Rams where Moore and Williams weren’t on the same page.

Tough as nails and durable, Moore hasn’t missed a game since 2020 despite seemingly always getting rocked. That kind of reliable presence as well as catch-and-run ability are things the Bears organization and its fans have praised for years and would have been great for Mendoza to have during the development years of his career.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Bears are still listed as the favorite to land Crosby at -150, with the Dallas Cowboys at +225 and the Raiders’ odds to keep him at +350. The Bears were at -145 two days ago.
