Former Los Angeles Rams defensive end Aaron Donald worked out with Braden Fiske and more, showing off his speed amid his potential return.
Following the Los Angeles Rams' final training camp practice, head coach Sean McVay stated there were "no updates" on whether or not Aaron Donald would make his return. McVay confirmed he would know more once the team made it back to Woodland Hills, but no update was given.
Despite the rumors and reports regarding Donald's return, it is well-known and documented that he has been engaging in drills and workouts to determine if he can actually return to the field. The most recent is a speed drill, which shows Donald engaging in a workout with fellow Rams defensive end Braden Fiske.
Donald is seen doing the speed drills with Fiske and Desjuan Johnson. The drill itself is enacted by 2Tenths Speed & Agility, who shared the clip on X.
What is not confirmed is when the video took place, but it can be presumed that Donald was doing this drill recently at the Rams training facility.
The Rams had to officially log Donald in for a workout on the transaction wire recently, as the defensive end had to borrow equipment for another drill while at the team's facility.
McVay has openly said multiple times that Donald is working his way back to a return, but he would not say when that would happen or be officially announced. He did say following the official workout that the defender "can make the team."
What has been well-known is that Donald would not return to play if he could not operate in the same manner that he had when he stepped away from the NFL at the end of the 2023 season.
Donald announced his official retirement in March 2024 and has been steadfast in shutting down the idea of coming back to play. That all changed when the Rams traded for reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett.
When Garrett arrived, Donald spoke to multiple NFL insiders, and his tune changed completely.
The future Hall of Fame defensive end instead said he would find out if there was still a "fire inside of him" to compete.
It is not often that two Defensive Player of the Year winners are able to play on the same team, and the Rams have a roster that can certainly compete for a long trip in the playoffs.
Granted, a lot still has to go right for that to happen, but Donald likely sees this as his opportunity to immediately return and compete for a championship. Whether or not he officially does and when that announcement comes remains to be seen.
