The Los Angeles Rams and Myles Garrett have agreed to terms on a restructured contract.

There were rumblings that the Los Angeles Rams would have to give Myles Garrett a new contract, and that has now happened. However, the new deal in place is a restructuring that pays the defender a similar deal to what he had with the Cleveland Browns.

Per Ian Rapoport:

"The #Rams and star edge Myles Garrett did not agree on a new deal. Instead, they did rework his contract that pays him $204M over 5 years – essentially what he was making. The average per year and term remain the same as his deal was in Cleveland. The alteration allowed the Rams to onboard Myles and his record-setting deal, moving the vesting date of his guarantees back a few months."

Essentially, Garrett will see his guarantees moved back a few months, allowing the trade with the Rams to move forward. He will also receive $204 million over the next five years, which will pay him $40.8 million annually, which is a shade over what he was getting from the Browns.

Clearly, Garrett and the Rams wanted to get the deal done so he could become a member of the organization as fast as possible.

The Rams are currently engaged in their OTA program, and the mandatory mini camp will take place from June 15 to 16. Getting the defender signed and acclimated can allow him to integrate and take the field with his new teammates as soon as possible.

There is plenty of time for Garrett to get used to his new reality, as training camp is set to take place at the end of July. However, he is also to not only learn a new defense, but operate under a 3-4 base, as he played a 4-3 with the Browns.

Garrett recently spoke about his scheme fit, which is obviously a bit early to discuss. Regardless, his ability to act as an edge rusher, linebacker, and spinner puts him in an advantageous position to truly make an immediate impact.

The Rams now seemingly have all the pieces in place to not only make a deep playoff run, but to potentially get over the hump of missing out on a Super Bowl appearance.

Though losing Jared Verse will impact the defense, the arrival of Garrett is sure to take the unit to brand new heights. Time will tell how he builds chemistry with his new team, but there is plenty of excitement to be had in Los Angeles, bringing in the arguable best pass rusher in the league.
