Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jaylen Watson was carted to the locker room after suffering a significant arm injury.
UPDATE:
Jaylen Watson has been downgraded to out with a shoulder injury.
Well into the second quarter of the Los Angeles Rams taking on the Denver Broncos, cornerback Jaylen Watson suffered what appeared to be a very significant injury.
Following a play, Watson was attempting to stop a Broncos receiver when the Rams corner fell to the turf and was in immediate pain. At first, it was not known what had occurred, but training staff attended to the corner.
Watson had to be helped off the field, and the training staff was doing their best to keep his right arm lifted, and the corner was seen screaming out in pain.
Following the injury incident, Watson went immediately into the blue medical tent, but he did not spend that long in the tent. Moments after going into the tent, the Rams defender was carted off the field and into the locker room.
Losing Watson is a big hit to the Los Angeles secondary, as Watson has been a standout player alongside Trent McDuffie. Both have been instrumental in stopping the Broncos offense thus far.
With Watson now out, he is being replaced by Emmanue Forbes Jr.
The Rams have not officially ruled out Watson or given him an official injury designation, but that should come very soon.
At the time of this writing, the Rams are ahead of the Broncos with a socre of 13-0.
Thus far in the contest, Los Angeles has been dealing with some significant injuries.
Initially, tight end Terrance Ferguson went down with an ankle injury, and he was taken to the locker room almost immediately. He was followed by fellow tight end Colby Parkinson, who also suffered a shoulder injury.
Both tight ends would eventually return to the game, but Ferguson was hurt again and had to be checked out by the training staff.
With Ferguson and Parkinson dealing with injuries, the Rams have relied heavily on veteran Tyler Higbee. Both have also impacted the ability to run the 13-personnel that this offense runs often.
In terms of losing Watson and the secondary, Forbes should do fine in relief. The defense has been stepping up and getting in the face of Nix to ensure he can't get off some big plays.
With halftime approaching, there could be some adjustments made that will allow the Broncos to potentially exploit the loss of a cornerback. However, that has not happened just yet.
Currently, Denver has not been able to generate much of anything thus far through this game.
