Los Angeles Rams tight end Terrance Ferguson has exited the Denver Broncos with an apparent injury.
UPDATE:
Terrance Ferguson is officially back out on the field.
Los Angeles Rams tight end Terrance Ferguson has exited the game after what looked to be a hard hit when he fell to the turf on a catch play.
Ferguson was seen hitting the turf hard, and he looked immediately shaken up. Following the incident, he walked to the sideline with an immediate limp.
The training staff began to check him out, and Ferguson left for the locker room a few moments later.
Los Angeles losing Ferguson would be tough for their 13-personnel plays, and the young tight end has been a surprise through two weeks thus far. He has 54 yards and one touchdown so far.
During the telecast, it was revealed that Ferguson is getting an X-ray done on his ankle. He had appeared on the injury report with the ankle this week, but it was not enough to keep him off the field.
Now, it could be that the ankle may have been aggravated, and Ferguson is getting tests done to ensure that he did not cause significant damage. His return is likely to be questionable as he gets checked out.
The Rams are already dealing with receiver issues, as Pro Bowler Puka Nacua is out due to a hip injury that he has been dealing with. Instead of allowing him to also take the field, head coach Sean McVay played it safe and ruled him out.
McVay also stated that Nacua should be ready to play in Week 4, barring any sort of setback.
With Ferguson now out, the Rams offense has lost two big contributors.
The good news for the offense is that Davante Adams has stepped up in a big way. With Nacua out, he drew all the attention in Week 2 against the New York Giants.
Adams ended the day with 195 yards and two touchdowns. The first play to the veteran pass catcher in Week 3 was a 22-yard connection from Matthew Stafford.
Adams should be plenty involved in the action against the Broncos, as will the rest of the tight end room.
Davis Allen picked up two catches for 19 yards, and now Rams legend Tyler Higbee caught the first touchdown of the game. Even if Ferguson does not get to return to the game, the rest of the room can step in for him.
At the time of this writing, the Rams are leading 7-0, after stumbling in their first offensive series.
