There were rumors that the Los Angeles Rams were attempting to trade for disgruntled Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown. While the reports were never corroborated, they have now been.
Rams general manager Les Snead admitted that conversations with the Eagles did take place for Brown, but nothing moved forward past the initial talks about a trade.
Brown and the Eagles' relationship began to falter in 2025, as the three-time All-Pro was seldom used in Kevin Patullo's system. Despite winning games, the receiver found himself without touches.
Fast-forward to the 2026 offseason, and the Eagles let it be known they would welcome calls, but their price was steep for the 28-year-old. A first-round, a second-round, and a player were the reported asking price.
The Rams, being a team that knows how to work deals and has more than enough draft capital, became one of those teams interested. They initially had two first-round picks, though one of them was used to bring in Trent McDuffie.
That said, Snead indicated the Rams were interested.
"I think in that case we chatted with Philly, nothing worked out, so we move you know we moved the drill from there, but you know they there were talks we had discussions, didn't work out, that happens," Snead said.
Additional reports also indicated that the Rams had a conversation with Davante Adams about a trade, which Snead also admitted to.
It seems to be that the Rams were likely willing to trade Adams to the Eagles for Brown, though this is speculation. It would make sense for a possible first-round or second-round pick and player swap to have happened.
Brown has had four straight seasons of 1,000+ receiving yards, and even in the odd way in which he was used in 2025, he still managed to bring in 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Eagles have since indicated they will keep Brown, but that does not mean more talks can materialize again. Los Angeles currently has the No. 13 overall pick, and the belief is they will use that to potentially land a top pass catcher like USC's Makai Lemon or Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson.
They could also trade back for more draft capital and still select a receiver. The team does not have roster holes that need an immediate upgrade, but getting younger at certain positions is always a good idea.
Adams is in the presumed tail end of his career, and more receiver help will be needed to pair with Puka Nacua. The Rams could certainly go find another solid receiver in free agency, like Jauan Jennings or DeAndre Hopkins, but they might also consider revisiting potentially landing Brown, if that becomes a possibility again.
