Los Angeles Rams defensive end Myles Garrett may return to practice for Week 8.
The Los Angeles Rams have been hit with more than enough injury news, as multiple players are out long-term. One player who has yet to return from a long injury layoff is defensive end Myles Garrett.
Garrett underwent knee surgery following Week 1, but has yet to return to action. Now, it appears his return could come after Week 7.
The defensive end was traded to the Rams in June, and it was known then that he was dealing with some knee soreness. After missing the majority of training camp due to swelling, Garrett was able to practice in full and take the field against the San Francisco 49ers.
Unfortunately for the Rams, Garrett was revealed to have suffered a nagging knee injury that needed to be corrected with surgery. After the procedure, he was placed on IR.
Rams head coach Sean McVay indicated that Garrett would need a bit more time to heal from the surgery, which has pushed his return past Week 7. Despite still being out, the defender might be gearing up to take the field again.
During media availability on Friday, McVay stated that the team opening the 21-day practice window for Garrett is a "possibility."
That is in no way a confirmation that Garrett is set to return, but it is some better news in the litany of injury issues the team has had.
The defender could also return at any point within those 21 days. The idea of opening a practice window is to give said player a bit more time to ramp back up to football activities.
Garrett is the kind of athlete that might also be able to return sooner rather than later.
Additional Rams Injury Updates
McVay also offered a big update on wide receiver Puka Nacua, and many other players.
Nacus has been labeled as questionable, and he will miss Friday's practice due to the calf injury that he suffered on Thursday.
Nacua had to leave practice due to the calf injury, and was limited on Thursday.
Cornerback Trent McDuffie is also still dealing with a groin injury, and he will be questionable to suit up on Sunday as well.
McVay also confirmed that linebacker Nate Landman is now out due to suffering a concussion. Eric Kendricks will be elevated from the practice squad to serve as depth for Week 7.
Despite the numerous injuries the Rams are already facing, they appear to be getting some players back or close to getting some players back.
