Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is in danger of missing Week 2.
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is in danger of missing Week 2, as the receiver will now miss his second day of practice due to a hip injury.
Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed that Nacua missed practice and that his official status for the New York Giants matchup will be questionable.
Having a questionable status does not mean that Nacua will be ruled out but missing two days of practice is not a good sign. Also, having a hip injury is something that can become difficult to deal with.
Losing Nacua would be a big hit to this Rams offense, and would be a hurdle to have to deal with for this Los Angeles team not to drop their second loss in a row.
The Rams were outclassed by the San Francisco 49ers in Australia on both sides of the ball, but Nacua remained one of the bright spots. Despite a highly inaccurate performance from quarterback Matthew Stafford, Nacua pulled in 74 yards on five receptions.
Should Nacua not be able to play, the Rams would lean heavily on Davante Adams to lead the room.
Fellow receiver Jordan Whittington is also dealing with a quadriceps injury, and he missed practice on Friday. If he also misses practice on Saturday, his status would be questionable as well.
Adams, Konata Mumpfield, Xavier Smith, CJ Daniels, and Tutu Atwell would round out the room if Nacua and Whittington were not able to suit up.
The third and final injury report will determine which players are leading to being ruled out or are ruled out.
Head coach Sean McVay may want to take things easy with Nacua and choose to hold him out so that he does not make his hip injury worse.
Despite the injuries, the Rams are also looking at the return of Aaron Donald. The defensive end spoke to the media on Friday and stated that he is tracking towards playing.
Donald has not been confirmed to be playing, but all signs point to his suiting up against the Giants.
The Rams losing to the 49ers was tough, as they not only dropped to 0-1, but they also lost footing in the NFC West. The Giants are not in the same division, but they are in the same conference.
Every game counts, and the Rams losing a second game to a potential playoff contender would not be ideal. There is plenty of the season left to play, and Los Angeles needs a big bounce-back performance.
