Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has revealed that Puka Nacua is unlikely to play in Week 3.
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is not practicing in the third and final day in preparation for Week 3, and head coach Sean McVay has confirmed that he is now doubtful.
Despite the Rams losing Nacua for another game, McVay offered a far better update in terms of his return timeline.
Nacua initially suffered a psoas injury, which is considered to be a groin injury, during training camp. Despite the injury, the receiver was able to play in Week 1.
That same injury flared up and became a hip ailment, which has led to Nacua being ruled out for Week 2. McVay called the feeling that the receiver was feeling as "pre-hernia" and indicated the coaching staff would give him more time to heal before he takes the field.
That time is clearly working, as McVay also confirmed that Nacua should be ready to play in Week 4, barring any sort of setback.
Getting Nacua back fully healthy is the goal, and McVay is always a coach who errs on the side of caution when it comes to lingering injuries.
With Nacua sidelined in Week 2, the Rams offense relied heavily on a committee approach in the passing game, and veteran Davante Adams showed up in a big way.
Adams secured 195 yards and two touchdowns against the New York Giants, and he is expected to take a big role again against the Denver Broncos.
The run game will also be a huge aspect of the offense, as both Kyren Williams and Blake Corum worked in tandem to bring in 163 yards on the ground.
In terms of the committee approach, quarterback Matthew Stafford got the ball to eight different receivers, and that is what should be expected against the Broncos.
Considering Denver has a solid defense and Patrick Surtain II, the Rams need to confuse the defense by not relying soleyl on the prowess of Adams.
Tight end Terrance Ferguson also took on a big role and should be the featured big body for Stafford, especially with Colby Parkinson still nursing a knee injury.
The elements for the Los Angeles offense remain there, even without the help of Nacua.
Despite having to face a strong defense, the Rams need to find a way to get the run game going while also relying heavily on middle-of-the-field opportunities that can produce yards after the catch. This will allow them to potentially take control of the passing game without having to worry about Surtain and the Broncos' secondary.
Getting Aaron Donald up to speed will also benefit the defense greatly, as it can open more opportunities for the other pass rushers to get after Bo Nix.
