The Los Angeles Rams have released a hilarious parody of "Friday," which is a short film to celebrate the upcoming draft, and has been aptly titled "Thursday."
On top of starring O'Shea Jackson and Destin Tucker taking on the roles that their fathers inhabited in the first round, which is Craig and Smokey, respectively, the short film was also filmed on location in West Athens, Los Angeles, where the house is from the original 1990s comedy.
As Jackson and Tucker meet to talk about the upcoming draft, actor Terry Crews is joined by none other than Rams players, Byron Young and Jared Verse, who act as Crews' muscle.
Crews also mentions that when he was drafted by the Rams in 1991, before he stole a Super Bowl ring from Tucker's character.
Young and Verse aren't the only players that appear in the short film, as Kevin Dotson also makes an appearance as the psuedo "Big Worm" character from the original "Friday" film.
Jackson and Tucker are also wearing the brand-new updated uniforms, which were just announced by the team on Thursday.
The nearly three and a half parody film ends with an announcement that will usher in a draft day experience for fans, which will take place from April 23 to 25.
Per a press release, fans can take in Zillow Draft House, which will be up from April 16 to 25 in Hollywood Park, and a Rams Block Party, which will run from April 23 to 25.
The release states:
"From April 23-25, the Rams will host at Hollywood Park a multi-day Draft celebration for fans, including the Rams Block Party presented by Zillow. Fans can watch the NFL Draft live, enjoy carnival-style rides and games at the Fan Fair, and experience branded activations throughout a “Main Street” environment. Proceeds from ticketed Fan Fair experiences will benefit the Rams Foundation, which focuses on creating access, opportunity and equity for Angelenos."
Rams chief marketing officer, Kathyrn Kai-ling Fredrick, also commented on the parody film and what it means for Los Angeles as a whole.
"This project is a celebration of Los Angeles—the city we call home—and its culture, creativity and global influence," said Kathryn Kai-ling Frederick, Chief Marketing Officer, Los Angeles Rams. "Friday is more than a movie; it’s a cultural touchstone. By reimagining it through Thursday, tying it to the Draft, and connecting it to real fan experiences across the city, we’re creating something that truly represents LA."
The Rams are set to select No. 13 overall, and could go a multitude of ways in who they take. Will it be an offensive lineman, a wide receiver, or will general manager Les Snead use the pick to bring in a veteran that nobody sees coming?
Overall, Los Angeles has seven picks in the draft, which are as follows:
- Round 1, Pick 13
- Round 2, Pick 61
- Round 3, Pick 93
- Round 6, Pick 207
- Round 7, Pick 232
- Round 7, Pick 251
- Round 7, Pick 252
