The Los Angeles Rams remain as one of the top-ranked teams in the latest free agency power rankings.
The Los Angeles Rams had a massive need in the secondary, and the team ensured they found quality players to upgrade that unit in a big way.
Adding former Kansas City Chiefs cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson was a one-two combo that should turn the secondary into one of the biggest strengths. Despite limited movement on the free agency front, the Rams remain one of the top teams in the latest power rankings.
Los Angeles general manager Les Snead has exercised his usual draft pick wizardry to ensure the Rams have a lot of picks, and those picks remain in the top selections. The team has three picks in the top 100 selections, and the No. 13 overall being one of them gives the front office a chance to land a stellar plug-and-play prospect.
Two of the biggest needs for the Rams exist on the offensive line and the wide receiver corps. Despite having Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, the drop-off in production from the pair is vast.
Considering the need to also prepare for the exit of Adams, the Rams could go after USC's Makai Lemon or Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson. Either way, the draft is where the team could shine again.
With their championship roster still in place, minus a few losses in free agency, the Rams remain at the No. 2 overall spot in the latest power rankings from NFL.com's Eric Edholm.
"The Rams have approached this offseason like they're Super Bowl contenders, and rightfully so. They wasted no time targeting the biggest area of need in the secondary, adding Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, and they don't appear done. Even after trading one first-rounder, they still have another at No. 13 overall. The offensive line is an area I expect them to target, and a wide receiver also could be on the menu with Davante Adams close to the finish line and Tutu Atwell gone. The Rams have their typically-strange allotment of draft picks, with three in the first 93 overall, none for the ensuing 113 picks and four selections from No. 207 on. Expect Los Angeles not to end up with those same picks, as GM Les Snead always keeps his finger on the trigger. The Rams are gunning for another title in Matthew Stafford's age-38 season," Edholm wrote.
The Rams still have the roster that should take them far into the playoffs, and they could go over the top with the addition of an A.J. Brown, despite reports indicating the team has backed out of the trade.
Still, there are a few tweaks to be made, and Sean McVay should still champion this team to be one of the best in the NFC. The issue is the Seattle Seahawks, who are the reigning Super Bowl champions and hold the top spot on the power rankings.
With the Super Bowl running through Seattle, the Rams made it a point to upgrade their secondary in a big way. Who they take in the draft might just be the icing on the proverbial cake for the team being able to make it back to the big game.
