The Los Angeles Rams are set to have their rookie mini camp, and here is what to look for.

The Los Angeles Rams did not have a huge draft, as only five players were taken. However, they did bring in a staggering number of UDFAs. Per official reports, a total of 18 players have been brought in with a chance to make the roster.

This will be the first time that the team will also get to see Ty Simpson in action, and he already has some reported expectations, which include playing the mistake-free football he is known to play. That said, here is what to look for in the rookie mini camp.

How Ty Simpson Operates

Considering the drama that has surrounded Simpson being drafted, there is a heap of expectations on the rookie. The Rams generally treat their rookie mini camp as an elongated orientation, but it will also be the first time that everyone can see the Alabama prospect take the field in a Los Angeles uniform.

With OTAs right around the corner, it will be the first time that Simpson will also get to throw the ball around with some of his rookie teammates.

Undrafted Free Agent Work Ethic

Considering there are 18 UDFAs that have been brought in, they will all be under a microscope in terms of how they work. Which UDFAs go above and beyond to land a roster spot or practice squad spot will begin soon.

Rookie players will get the chance to take the field, albeit for a limited time. Still, this could be a chance to show their work ethic is unmatched, giving coaches more to consider when cuts start.

Roster Cuts and Additions

The Rams have 87 players in total on their roster, per Fox Sports. Though they are under the 90-player limit, this will start the chance for the coaching staff to begin evaluating their talent and rookie players to potentially make immediate changes.

If there are some rookie players who are not quite cutting it, they could be released or waived, leading to the Rams potentially bringing in more talent. The same can be said for veteran players and roster bubble options that were previously on the roster.

What Sean McVay Says About Roster

Rams head coach Sean McVay is undoubtedly going to speak to the media at some point, so it will be interesting to hear what he has to say about Simpson and the rest of the rookie talent once he finally gets his eyes on the new crop of prospects.
