Instant takeaways from the Baltimore Ravens' win against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Baltimore Ravens traveled to Brazil to take on the Dallas Cowboys, and the game did not disappoint. Big plays happened on both sides of the ball, and it was a back-and-forth scoring affair until the end.
The fourth quarter was full of drama, as both teams traded scores with the waning seconds left. The Ravens were able to pull off an improbable last-second field goal, as Tyler Loop nailed a 56-yarder to give Baltimore the 34-31 win.
Lamar Jackson Returns to Rushing
There has been a lot of talk about whether or not Lamar Jackson would return to being a rusher, especially with offensive coordinator Declan Doyle having him snap the ball directly from center as opposed to the pistol or shotgun formation.
Jackson showed that he can still be plenty dangerous with his legs, as he rifled off 50 yards on five carries for a 10 yards per carry average.
Late in the fourth quarter, it was Jackson who juked multiple defenders to pick up a momentum-swinging first down.
Center Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
The center position has been one of the most concerning, and that issue reared its ugly head during the game. Late in the fourth quarter, starting center Jovaughn Gwyn went down with an ankle injury.
Gwyn reportedly was carted to the locker room, leaving the team to rely on backup center Ethan Pocic. That was short-lived, as Pocic took a helmet to the knee and was also taken out of the game.
Baltimore then had to bring in rookie guard Vega Ioane as the team's emergency third option. With both Gwyn and Pocic potentially having significant injuries, more help will be needed.
Derrick Henry Sets History Again
Doyle remembered that running back Derrick Henry was on the team after he took a dig at his own play-calling in Week 2. Henry picked up 89 yards and two touchdowns.
The yardage that Henry got pushed him into ninth all-time in yards, as he passed Los Angeles Rams legend Eric Dickerson. Henry now has over 13,260 yards, and he is now chasing No. 8, who is Jerome Bettis.
Bettis has 13,662 yards total, and Henry could very well pass him this season.
Ravens Secondary Struggles
While the Baltimore defense produced some big stops, the secondary struggled to contain the over-the-middle throws and big plays from Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense.
At times, the Ravens were well ahead, but Prescott delivered some big throws to CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens that nearly led to a loss for Baltimore.
Dallas ended the night with 276 yards in the air, which is something that cannot be allowed to happen if the Ravens expect to stop high-powered offenses.
Zay Flowers Effective in Limited Time
Zay Flowers worked his way back from a hamstring injury that nearly led to him being ruled out for a second game. After Flowers tested his hamstring during warmups, he suited up and was limited.
During those limited snaps, Flowers was seen utilizing his speed for some big catch-and-run situations.
Flowers picked up 57 yards on four receptions, with his longest being a 22-yarder. He nearly scored twice in the fourth quarter, but was denied twice.
Nnamdi Madubuike and Teddye Buchanan Return
Both defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike and linebacker Teddye Buchanan made their 2026 returns after suffering season-ending injuries in 2025.
Madubuike picked up three total tackles in his return, but Buchanan did not see much action. A big reason for that is how Trenton Simpson has been playing.
Simpson and Tavius Robinson, along with Roquan Smith, are a very solid trio. Head coach Jesse Minter is unlikely to mess with that lineup for the time being.
Tyler Loop Becomes Game Hero
Ravens kicker Tyler Loop missed a huge kick that would have sent the team to the playoffs in 2025, but he missed a 44-yarder.
After some struggles in preseason, the Ravens then brought in Jake Moody to usher in competition. Loop took that as what it was and ensured he continued to land field goals.
Now, with one second left, he kicked in a 56-yarder to give the Ravens the Week 3 win.
