Baltimore Ravens rookie receiver Ja'Kobi Lane has reportedly suffered a fractured wrist.
Baltimore Ravens rookie wide receiver Ja'Kobi Lane reportedly suffered a fractured wrist in the team's win against the Indianapolis Colts.
Lane had been pulled from the game at the start of the second half, and it was stated by the team's official page that he had suffered a wrist injury. Now, per NFL insider Mike Garofolo, the rookie receiver has reportedly suffered a fractured wrist.
It was not known at the time how Lane suffered the injury, but it is a big one. Garafolo did indicate that an MRI will be conducted to determine the extent of the injury, and Ravens head coach Jesse Minter is likely to offer an update during media availability on Monday.
Following the game, Minter did make a brief mention of the injury.
"We will have to see how that looks and see what we have to do this week to get that room ready for next week," Minter said.
Lane had been one of the biggest surprises of camp, as the ascendant rookie continued to make big-time plays against the team's defense. That was also the case during preseason, as he showed his ability to use his size in catching situations.
In the first preseason game, Lane outstretched his arms for a pass from Joe Fagnano, and he used the power in his body to drag two Philadelphia Eagles defenders for a touchdown.
Lane had one catch for 11 yards in the Colts win.
Baltimore had a tough run of losing receivers in Week 1, as Zay Flowers suffered a hamstring aggravation, leading to his being pulled before the end of the second half. Flowers had a career day, securing 150 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Lane was then pulled shortly into the second half with his wrist injury.
The Ravens were already down two receivers and had previously made fellow rookie Elijah Sarratt inactive before the game started.
With Flowers potentially having to fully heal, and Lane potentially looking at multiple weeks out if he truly did break his wrist, the wide receiver room will look a bit thin.
During the Colts game, veteran Chris Moore stepped up for a big 53-yard bomb from quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Baltimore's wide receiver corps will be Rashod Bateman, Moore, LaJohntay Wester, and Sarratt if both Flowers and Lane are set to miss some time due to their injuries.
Lane's injury has not been confirmed, and word from Minter will likely come tomorrow to determine what exactly happened.
