Baltimore Ravens head coach Jesse Minter revealed the plan for the center position with the team losing both Jovaugh Gwyn and Ethan Pocic.

The Baltimore Ravens found themselves in a bit of trouble following injuries to both their starting center and backup.

During the Dallas Cowboys matchup, starting center Jovaughn Gwyn suffered an ankle injury that led to him being carted off the field. This led to backup Ethan Pocic jumping in.

Pocic had not played many snaps when he was struck on the knee by a Cowboys defender, leading to him having to also be carted off the field, towards end of the fourth quarter.

With both Gwyn and Pocic both out, it was rookie guard Vega Ioane who stepped in to play center. Now, it appears the young lineman will take over, as the Ravens will mull options for bringing in more help.

Minter took the podium during media availability on Monday, where he spoke about the plan moving forward. He also revealed that both Gwyn and Pocic will be out "long-term."

"I don't have the full details, but they both looked like they'll be a little bit of a long-term type of thing. I do think for this particular game, as we'll sort through making our roster better obviously over the next couple of days; he'll [Ioane] be prepared and he'll prepare to play that position. We'll figure out the best five guys to put out there this particular week," Minter said.

Minter stated that the plan is to keep Ioane as the team's starting center, while they may "add a piece or two." Whether or not that means more offensive line depth in general or bringing in more centers remains to be seen, but it will be the rookie guard who takes over in the middle.

Minter also praised Ioane for stepping in the way that he did when he had not taken any snaps as the backup center throughout the week.

Following the injury to Pocic, Ioane had to step in and help the Ravens score their final touchdown, and when they also needed to pull off the last throw to Zay Flowers, that helped to set up the last-second kick.

Now, Ioane will be tasked with taking over as starting center, and he will take snaps as such this coming week.

The Ravens will face the Tennessee Titans, who have struggled in 2026, but they should not be counted as a pushover team. This will also be Ioane's first time as the starting center, so there could be a big learning curve.

Either way, the Ravens will need to find a significant way to improve the offensive line through available free agents or via a trade.

Minter said they would find the "best five" to put out on the field, but that could also impact the general depth on the team.

Ioane moving to center means that Andrew Vorhees or Emery Jones Jr. will presumably step into the right guard position, but beyond them is little to no depth.

Balimore general manager Eric DeCosta will have some work to do when it comes to bolstering the offensive line to ensure the Ravens have what they need moving forward.
