The Baltimore Ravens have made an official decision regarding Lamar Jackson's status this week.
Entering Week 8 NFL action, the Baltimore Ravens will be featured in one of the biggest games on the slate. They are set to take on Josh Allen and the 5-1 Buffalo Bills.
Ahead of this week's game, there was a major question surrounding the Ravens. Would star quarterback Lamar Jackson be able to make his return from a high ankle sprain or not? That question has officially been answered.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter shared on X that head coach Jesse Minter has announced that Jackson will indeed make his return this week against the Bills.
Jackson's return will be a major boost for a team that has lost back-to-back games coming into this week. Two weeks ago, Baltimore ended up losing to the Cleveland Browns by a final score of 13-10. Last week, the Ravens lost to the Cincinnati Bengals 35-13.
Following their 4-1 start, the last two weeks have been a major disappointment. This week offers Baltimore a chance to get back in the win column while also making a statement at the same time.
Currently, Buffalo is one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the NFL. Under the leadership of Allen and first-year head coach Joe Brady, the Bills have played well on both sides of the football. Beating them would be a clear message to the league that the Ravens are still a legitimate contender.
Prior to going down with the high ankle sprain, Jackson was playing well. In four games played, he completed 70.8 percent of his pass attempts for 967 yards, six touchdowns, and an interception. He also chipped in with 144 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Losing that kind of production was always going to be difficult for Baltimore to overcome.
Tyler Huntley stepped in as the starting quarterback and played solid football. He threw for 727 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception, while completing 69.8 percent of his passes and running for 76 yards and another score.
While Huntley should be praised for the way he filled in for Jackson, he simply doesn't make the same kind of impact the two-time MVP does.
Minter noted that the team cannot expect Jackson to come in and fix all the problems. However, getting the star quarterback back on the field will undoubtedly be a major boost.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon. Fans can now officially look forward to watching Jackson play football again.
