Ravens' Nate Wiggins and Marlon Humphrey Return to Practice

The Baltimore Ravens got a big boost, as both starting cornerbacks Nate Wiggins and Marlon Humphrey have returned to practice.

The Baltimore Ravens' secondary took a big hit when cornerbacks Nate Wiggins and Marlon Humphrey both suffered injuries that were a cause for concern heading into the preseason opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Now, the team has received a big boost, as both Wiggins and Humphrey have since returned to practice.

Wiggins suffered what appeared to be a leg injury after he was tangled up with rookie wide receiver Ja'Kobi Lane. After falling to the ground, the cornerback looked to be in immediate pain.

Wiggins had to be assisted up and placed on a cart, which led to much concern regarding the serious nature of the injury. Following practice, head coach Jesse Minter indicated that there was "optimism," but Minter did not offer much more of an update on the situation.

It was later revealed that Wiggins did not suffer any sort of structural damage or ligament tears. Even then, Minter said he did not know how long the cornerback would be out for.

Now, Wiggins has returned to practice after just missing one week.

Humphrey's case was a bit different, as he left training camp practice early with an unknown injury. Minter also revealed that he was unsure how long the fellow cornerback would be out.

Getting both back is huge for the Ravens defense and the secondary in general. Even if Wiggins and Humphrey had been healthy, it was unlikely they would have played in the preseason opener.

Minter spoke before the matchup with the Eagles and stated that "established" players would not be taking the field.

Things may change for the second preseason game, but Wiggins and Humphrey might also be given a bit more time to heal before they are thrust into a live game.

Additional Ravens Injury News

The Ravens are back at practice, but one player who is not participating is linebacker Jay Higgins IV. He remains out due to sustaining a concussion in the preseason opener.

Defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike is also participating in individual drills. He has yet to join team drills after undergoing offseason neck surgery and being removed from the PUP list.

Additionally, linebacker Teddye Buchanan is back at practice after also being removed from the PUP list. The second-year defender may be ready to take on some action during the second preseason game, but that will be up to Minter and the rest of the coaching staff.
