Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers has spoken out following his official signing of his new four-year deal.
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers has now officially signed his four-year, $140 million deal. This new deal includes $108 million of guaranteed money and places the pass catcher in the top five of the position in terms of annual money.
Flowers skipped practice on Tuesday while hammering out his deal, but he was seen on the field celebrating with his teammates. On Wednesday, the receiver returned to practice and spoke to the media about what his deal means.
"First of all, I would like to thank God. Without him, none of this would be possible. I would like to thank my family for always having my back and being there for me throughout everything we've been through. My friends. Everybody in the organization, EDC, Nick, Mr. Bisciotti for believing in me and giving me a shot," Flowers said.
Flowers also made mention of the Ravens giving him a shot despite his playing in Boston College, where he says not a lot of position players come out of.
Regardless of playing at Boston College, Baltimore drafted Flowers with the No. 22 overall pick during the 2023 NFL Draft.
Flowers would come out firing during his rookie season, securing 858 yards and four touchdowns. Despite the usual case being that some players suffer a "sophomore slump," that has not been the case for the receiver.
Flowers followed his rookie season up with 1,059 yards and four touchdowns in 2024 and 1,211 yards and five touchdowns in 2025.
The Ravens clearly saw the sheer talent of Flowers, which led to his new deal.
Flowers also indicated that he knew the organization would "take care of him." DeCosta spoke about getting a deal with the receiver back in April, and he got it done before the start of the regular season.
Multiple players and coaches also spoke about the sheer competitor that Flowers is and why it made sense that he got the deal he received. The newest being defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, who called the receiver "a nightmare."
"He's a nightmare," Weaver said of Flowers. "He's one of those guys where he's not just quick, he doesn't just have long speed; he gets 0-60 like that, there's not many guys you can just match up with that. So, most of that time you have to allocate two guys to him."
Weaver also called Flowers a "special talent," and expressed his excited nature for the receiver.
The Ravens now have another major contract to figure out, which is that of quarterback Lamar Jackson. Flowers also spoke on that, stating that he hopes Jackson remains his passer for years to come.
DeCosta and Jackson have had conversations, which Jackson remains very private on. Whether or not a deal gets done in the coming weeks, the Ravens can now breathe a sight of relief that they locked up one of their biggest playmakers.
