Instant reactions to the Baltimore Ravens' Week 5 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
The Baltimore Ravens have fallen to 3-2 on the season after a Week 5 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Despite a strong defensive performance through most of the game, the Ravens began to lose their footing in the fourth quarter. However, Huntley pulled off a huge fourth-quarter drive to tie it up and send it to overtime.
Another strong drive led to the win, after safety Kyle Hamilton picked off Tua Tagovailoa.
Here are the instant takeaways from the Ravens overtime victory.
Tyler Huntley Comes Up Clutch
Quarterback Tyler Huntley looked uncomfortable through most of the game, but that was due to the Falcons getting after him plenty of times. With the Ravens offensive line having some issues, Huntley could not get much going offensively.
All those issues melted away near the end of the fourth quarter, as Huntley was instrumental in moving the chains with only 2:25 left.
Baltimore would score with a pass from Huntley to Devontez Walker, and Huntley would keep it on the next play for the 2-point conversion.
The offense then chewed up over seven minutes in the 10-minute overtime period, leading to another strong drive from Huntley and company, which helped secure the win.
Mark Andrews Continues to Struggle
There might need to be a larger conversation about the issues that Ravens tight end Mark Andrews is having. Andrews has four drops over five games, but they all seem to come at the most inopportune times.
Andrews had the chance to extend two different drives on third down, but he was not able to haul in either pass. The veteran is not known for this kind of issue, so he could be a bit off in 2026.
Andrews also had a uncharacterstic fumble that led to a Falcons defensive touchdown.
Rookie tight end Matt Hibner was injured in the game, but it may be time to start utilizing Josh Cuevas a bit more.
Justice Hill Has Breakout Game
The Ravens managed to rush all over the top-rated run defense in the league. After only surrendering a little over 40 yards per game on average, the Falcons coughed up 208 yards on the ground.
What is more surprising is that Justice Hill was outpacing Derrick Henry until overtime. Hill secured 73 yards on four carries for a staggering 18.3-yard-per-carry average.
While Hill will never unseat Henry, this was a promising look at what a successful split-carry situation could look like.
Ravens Have No Answer on Third Down
The Ravens' defense was strong all night, stopping the Falcons for most of the game. However, Penix started to get comfortable in the pocket, and he kept delivering third-down strikes to wide receiver Drake London.
Baltimore will need to ensure their third-down defense tightens up, as they allowed 9-for-17 attempts to Atlanta, which equates to 52 percent. That kind of success will not help them in the future.
The Ravens' defense often pulls off some big momentum-swinging plays, but it is the fundamentals that need some serious work.
