Every offseason, one player stands out and makes a name for themselves, and Seattle has a player who could take on a big role in 2026.

The Seattle Seahawks will be the defending Super Bowl champs this upcoming season, and they have started the offseason like a team ready for the battle ahead.

With OTAs and minicamp done and dusted, the Seahawks reportedly had nearly 100 percent attendance across those practices.

For most teams, veterans stay away and enjoy a little more vacation time, as it is usually for the rookies and younger players on the roster to get a leg up ahead of training camp when things are full-go.

But not for the Seahawks.

Everyone was in the building, in the classroom, and on the practice field, working to build a good foundation to attack the new season with.

And each offseason, some players who many think are on the outside of the main roster step up and become a key cog in the machine.

For Seattle Sports analyst Brock Huard, from what he saw at practice this offseason, one player grabbed his attention, and that's stud special teamer Brady Russell.

“The biggest surprise to me in the two practices I watched was Brady Russell,” Huard said. “He was anywhere and he was everywhere. He was at fullback, he was at H-back, he was at tight end.

"I think he’s got an opportunity to carve out a bigger and bigger role.”

With Brian Fleury taking over the offensive coordinator role from Klint Kubiak, it is clear, based on what we've seen and read, that he's bringing some of the things from San Francisco to Seattle.

Russell, a core special teamer in his three seasons, playing over 70 percent of snaps, which increased to 87 percent in 2025, and is a bit-part player on offense, could be set for a bigger role under Fleury,

Huard did mention that Russell's workload could be due to the injuries to several tight ends, so it isn't exactly set in stone that Brady will continue with this trend when training camp begins.

But it is something worth watching as the offseason rolls on.

Every year, teams look to evolve and build on what they did the previous year, and for the Seahawks, maybe one way to add a new wrinkle or two is to have Russell play a bigger role in the offense.
