Seattle bypassed a Pro Bowler for a practice squad rookie, sparking questions about Joe Mixon's recovery as Mike Macdonald breaks his silence on the surprising roster decision.

The Seattle Seahawks had veteran running back Joe Mixon in for a workout as the franchise deals with a host of injuries to its running back room.

With no Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price, the Seahawks needed another body for the room, and most thought that was Mixon.

But after the workout, it was revealed that the Seahawks chose not to sign Mixon, who missed all of 2025 with a foot/ankle injury, and instead signed Robert Henry of the Washington Commanders' practice squad.

Some thought that was odd given Mixon is a two-time Pro Bowler and has skins on the wall, and Henry is a rookie.

So, it only made sense that when head coach Mike Macdonald spoke to the media, he was asked why Seattle didn't sign Mixon.

"Just didn't work out," Macdonald said. "Didn't work out, probably the most we should say about it with respect to the process, but those things happen and it's just part of the process."

So you could look at that in a host of different ways, and while we are only speculating, there is a real chance that Mixon just didn't look right coming back from his injury, or that his conditioning isn't where it needs to be for the Seahawks right now.

There are also some wild rumors about a foot problem that might be the result of some sort of crazy incident.

But in the end?

It is a little surprising, and Seattle's choice of a practice-squad player over Mixon likely tells us all we need to know about how the workout went.

Now Henry gets a chance to potentially suit up for Seattle, or he might simply just be another body on the practice squad in case another injury to the room happens.

Many thought that Mixon would be a nice addition to the Seahawks' run game, but the fact that he didn't get signed after a workout tells us he might not have been much use to the attack, anyway.
