There are plenty of weapons at Sam Darnold's disposal, but one is on the comeback trail that some might have forgotten about.
The Seattle Seahawks have had a relatively smooth offseason as Super Bowl champs, and while most of the focus has been on who the franchise lost this offseason, there is someone who the team is getting back.
With the need for a No. 2 weapon behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba being a big storyline, most think Rashid Shaheed is that guy, and based on what we've seen in camp, he will be Darnold's No. 2.
But behind him is where it gets interesting, as Cooper Kupp is next up, and now, behind him, is someone that fans might have forgotten about.
And that's Tory Horton.
Having only played eight games last season, yet still grabbed 5 TDs, Horton is now back fully healthy after the injury bug sank its teeth into him.
And for analyst Bryan Walters, who was on Seattle Sports' Bump and Stacey, Horton is one weapon he's excited to see get back into full flight.
“I’ve been loving watching Tory Horton back and healthy,” Walters said. “… He looks fast again out there. He looks like he’s ready to pick up where he left off.
“So I’m excited to see him if he can stay healthy. That’ll be the big question for him. I hope he can, because this receiving corp is stacked if he’s in there.”
Horton was a nice piece of Klint Kubiak's offense when he was healthy, having 13 receptions for 161 yards, averaging a crisp 12.4 yards per catch, so he was a chain mover.
His best return was the last game he played, hauling in four receptions for 48 yards and 2 TDs against the Washington Commanders before injury struck. So Horton was just starting to get rolling before the football gods intervened.
Now, he's back healthy, and fingers are crossed he can get a clean run at it in 2026, because a healthy Horton, with JSN, Shaheed, Kupp, and AJ Barner, could add another layer to Brian Fleury's offense.
That process figures to happen at some point in the preseason, which starts tonight with the Cowboys in town.
Yes, there is still a long way to go before Horton will be fully ready, and maybe a handful of snaps in Seattle's preseason games could be beneficial in his bid to be ready for Week 1.
But right now, he's travelling nicely. The trick is to make sure it continues.
