The Seahawks have seen their defensive stocks take a hit, and that has led them to former Cowboy Dante Fowler Jr.

Mike Macdonald's Seattle Seahawks are on the lookout to add some defensive pieces this offseason after seeing a handful leave in free agency.

While most of the attention has been on the running back position and the offensive line, the defense also took a hard shot in free agency.

And according to reports, that has led the franchise to look at a former Dallas Cowboy in Dante Fowler Jr.

The edge rusher reportedly had a visit with the Super Bowl champs this week, as Macdonald looks to add some depth to his pass rush unit.

Fowler is coming off a year with the Cowboys that saw him post just 3.0 sacks, 10 quarterback hits, and four tackles for loss as part of Matt Eberflus' horror show of a defense.

But it appears the Seahawks see something in Fowler, maybe in a similar way to DeMarcus Lawrence last offseason. He was on his last legs in Dallas, came to Seattle, and had a superb season.

Could the Seahawks look to make lightning strike twice? Possibly.

Given that Seattle has a good defensive line boasting Leonard Williams, Lawrence, Jarran Reid, and Byron Murphy II, if, and that's a big if, Fowler signs on with the Seahawks, it would give Macdonald a good depth piece to add to the rotation.

Fowler had a stellar 2024 season with the Washington Commanders, posting 10.5 sacks, which led the Cowboys to think that they might be getting that sort of production under Eberflus.

But as we know, he didn't get close to that. Granted, Dallas wasn't exactly the best place for defensive players in 2025.

However, if Fowler is given a chance in Seattle, he could become a valuable piece for the defending Super Bowl champs under Macdonald's scheme.

Money will be a factor as well, and given that the Seahawks haven't shown a willingness to part ways with a lot this offseason, don't expect Fowler to be signed to a big deal.

Spotrac.com has his market value at his $5.1 million, and I'd imagine the Seahawks could look to get something cheaper than that with Fowler coming on a one-year deal.

Granted, Seattle might just be kicking the tyres on veteran players in case it doesn't fill needs in the draft, and for a depth piece, Fowler might not be a bad option.
