Jaxon Smith-Njigba accidentally leaked a pivotal quarterback update on national television, confirming a surprise return for the Seattle signal-caller ahead of a crucial matchup against the Commanders.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold has been the big storyline of the week, as he battles back from a glute injury that kept him out of the Week 2 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

With Darnold back at practice this week, head coach Mike Macdonald stated that the team would want to know if Sam is healthy enough to play by Friday, we assume, because Seattle will travel to Washington to face the Commanders.

Everything was kept under wraps, as optimism grew that Darnold might be able to take his place, but nothing was official.

Well, receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was on the Rich Eisen Show and let slip the quarterback pecking order ahead of Sunday's game.

"I feel pretty good and we get to have Sam Darnold back, so I'm excited to show out each and every week," Smith-Njigba said.

When Eisen followed up on whether Sam was playing, JSN replied: "He looks good out there, I'll say that."

It was clear that JSN knew he had revealed information that wasn't supposed to be out in the public eye just yet, as he was seen looking to someone off camera when Eisen asked about Darnold playing against the Commanders.

And later in the day, Macdonald, when asked on how Darnold has looked in practice, confirmed what JSN told the Rich Eisen Show.

"He's looked good, Sam's going to play, and he's ready to go," Macdonald said.

So, No. 14 is officially back.

Originally thought to be missing a month with his glute injury, Darnold quickly avoided anything major, and his return timeline shrank considerably.

Now, set to start against the Commanders, who themselves are going through a quarterback injury crisis, with Jayden Daniels suffering an elbow injury against the Dallas Cowboys, so it will be backup Marcus Mariota to start.

Seattle has moved on from it's backup situation with Drew Lock playing well in Darnold's absence, and now No. 14 can return to the offense and look to get back in a groove.
