Mired in a two-game skid and plagued by Sam Darnold’s turnover struggles, Seattle faces a season-defining stretch as Mike Macdonald fights to salvage the team's postseason hopes.
Coach Mike Macdonald's Seattle Seahawks are experiencing something they haven't had to endure since Weeks 15 and 16 of 2024: back-to-back losses.
After a turnover-riddled, tough outing against the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle again shot itself in the foot, falling 17-14 to the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.
And as such, the Seahawks are now on a two-game skid and are left searching for answers, mainly for their quarterback, Sam Darnold, who has now thrown seven interceptions in just five games.
Plus, Darnold has played a major role in both of Seattle's losses, so the next 10 days will be crucial for the franchise as Macdonald seeks solutions to the many problems plaguing his team.
But how can Macdonald help guide his team through something they haven't experienced in well over a year?
"I just think our philosophy of we're always trying to move forward and we're always trying to find solutions," Macdonald said. "If you worry on things that aren't within your control, then you're never going to get any better. So, let's identify the things that we can do on our end, like on a day-to-day, moment-to-moment basis that's actually real, that will help us create better results.
"Otherwise, you're just going to drive yourself crazy just hoping for better results. That doesn't do our team, fan base, any justice. So, one thing that I'm proud of our people is we're problem solvers. We don't have an ego when it comes to finding solutions. It's just what's best for the team all the time."
So that is what the Seahawks will be focusing on - finding solutions.
And their schedule doesn't let up either.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears are up next, but both are at Lumen Field.
There is a real chance that, if the Seahawks don't find solutions to their current problems, they could be 3-5 heading into the Week 9 game against the Arizona Cardinals.
Given how well the 49ers have started, the division could be out of reach by then as well.
I know it is a little heavy-handed, but the Seahawks have to get this thing trending in the right direction.
Macdonald seems confident that those inside the building can find solutions, and, in truth, they better, because with each loss, the margin for error to make the playoffs shrinks.
