Is Seahawks' Banged-Up Backup QB Drew Lock Healthy For Cardinals Showdown?

As Sam Darnold sidelined, a recovering Drew Lock prepares to pilot the Seahawks' offense. After testing his injured elbow, the veteran backup aims to repeat his previous dominance.

Quarterback Drew Lock will be tasked with leading the Seattle Seahawks' offense on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals at Lumen Field as he steps in for the injured Sam Darnold.

With Lock himself dealing with an elbow injury, there were many Seahawks fans scrambling to think of what might happen if Lock wasn't healthy enough to start.

That would mean Jalen Milroe would be in.

But Lock has been progressing well over the past couple of weeks, and as lady luck would have it, it appears he's gotten healthy at the perfect time.

However, how does his elbow feel ahead of Sunday's game?

"It's doing good," Lock said via ESPN's Brady Henderson. "I'm excited to be back out there. Felt great to get under center, rip some balls yesterday. Feels good."

So it is all systems go for Lock, who is now what we can call a career backup in the NFL, and he has already been called into action this season, with wins over the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals.

But being a backup and then being thrust into the starting role, things will be totally different for Lock, taking the starter reps and managing the offense with Brian Fleury.

However, he's simply looking at it as just another week despite his elbow injury.

"I'm going at it like a normal week," Lock added. "If the training staff wants to pull it back a little bit, then we'll let them make that decision. But I'm expecting to go take every rep."

Perhaps it's odd that Lock's last game was a 31-7 win over Arizona, and now he's been called into action against the Cardinals.

In the win back in Week 2, Lock finished his day going 19 of 26 for 235 yards and 3 TDs, all of which went to Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

So, he knows his way around this Cardinals defense, fresh off giving up 30 points to the Dallas Cowboys.

Granted, there is still plenty of time between now and game day, but Lock is trending in the right direction, and it looks like his elbow injury is past him, which means we should get a fully healthy Lock on Sunday.
