Many see Jeremiyah Love as the star back of the rookie class, but the rookie projections might hint that Price has more than enough talent to go toe-to-toe with his former teammate.
Trying to predict what a rookie will do in their first NFL season is an impossible task, as there are so many unknowns, but Seattle Seahawks running back Jadarian Price has a serious chance to make a big impact.
Currently thought to be the starter for Brian Fleury's offense, as Zach Charbonnet recovers from his ACL injury, Price could get a big chunk of the offseason reps, plus in games, to establish himself as "the" guy.
He wasn't able to do that at Notre Dame as Jeremiyah Love was the starter, but Price held his own in a bit-part role, and now both are first-round picks.
With Love in Arizona and Price on the roster of one of the best teams in football, it will be interesting to see how the season moves along for the pair.
When it comes to predictions, it is nearly impossible, but ESPN's Mike Clay has tried his hand at it for all rookies.
Looking at running backs, it actually is far closer than people think. Well, according to Clay, anyway.
He has Love finishing the year with 1,129 yards and 7 TDs. For a high first-round pick, you could say that is a little underwhelming, but that isn't too bad.
Then to Price and here is where it gets interesting.
Clay has Price rushing for 915 yards and 8 TDs. So, there isn't that much of a difference.
“Price -- the No. 32 overall pick -- has a shot to earn lead back duties in Seattle's run-friendly offense with Zach Charbonnet recovering from a January ACL tear, so there's real potential for Price to have an immediate major role," Clay wrote.
There is not much separating the pair, and the Seahawks, before a down has been played, would likely take Price's stat line.
Again, this is a projection, and I would imagine that Seattle's other weaponry and offensive line play a big role in Clay's prediction. However, during the draft process, I saw many experts say Price is a starting-caliber back in the NFL.
Well, Clay's projection just proved that correct.
Now, will Price get that? Who knows, as the NFL is an unpredictable beast, but it certainly gives us a ballpark when it comes to expectations in Year 1 for the first-round pick.
