Milroe ended preseason with a bang.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Jalen Milroe was one player fans wanted to see this preseason with an eye on how much he has developed.
Still seen as a raw prospect, Milroe didn't exactly increase his stock in the eyes of the fans after his first two preseason games.
But against the Kansas City Chiefs in Seattle's preseason finale, he got the whole game, and he looked about as good as you could have hoped for.
He was decisive; he made throws when he needed to, and even drove the team down into field goal range for Jason Myers to try a game-winning field goal (which he missed).
So, there was plenty to like about Jalen.
And for Seattle Sports' Bob Shelton, while Milroe's exact place on the offense is unknown, he was left with a positive thought about Jalen moving forward.
"I still don't really know how they work him into the offense throughout the year, what their plan is for him, if they've got some special packages," Shelton said. "But I thought he made some nice throws in that game, he used his legs in a great way. He seems like he's got a habit of holding on to the ball too long at times, but that was the most positive I've felt.
"I saw the potential. I was like, "Okay, I like that. I like how he looked there. That was a great throw." So I thought there were some good moments. I don't know if he's somebody they'd be looking to trade or if they feel like we have something here. It's very raw. It's very rough, but this could be a diamond in the rough down the road. I don't know how they view him."
With Milroe showing what he can do in a settled environment, maybe another year of development behind Sam Darnold and Drew Lock is ideal for him.
To work on his game in the shadows, maybe he will be used on some gadget plays here and there as he continues to work on his craft.
There is no denying that Lock is QB2 right now, but in 12 months time? Who knows.
If Milroe continues on his current trajectory and makes positive strides, you never know how this could play out.
Granted, he is still very much a project at quarterback, but I get the feeling fans are a little more optimistic about Jalen than they were a few months ago.
