The Seattle Seahawks are in the thick of their Super Bowl preparations against the New England Patriots, but there is another headline threatening to take the focus away.
And that is, offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, rumored to be the next head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Given that the Seahawks are still alive in the season, no formal hires can take place, so if Kubiak is to be the Raiders' head coach, nothing can be official until after the Super Bowl.
As the game gets closer, the Seahawks and Patriots players and staff have been fielding questions from reporters all over the world.
And when it comes to Kubiak and his future, there's no prize for guessing what one of the first questions asked when he stepped to the podium.
With reports that the Raiders' job is as good as his, Klint, as expected, played a straight bat.
"I can just tell you I'm all-in on the Seahawks, I'm all-in on this game, and whatever comes next, we'll deal with that on Monday," Kubiak said via ESPN. "I'm just focusing on ... coaching this game. I've been working my whole life to coach in this game, and that's where our focus is."
So, it does seem like Kubiak is destined for a head coaching role, and will it be with the Raiders? All signs point to that.
But if that is the case, Macdonald will need to look for a new offensive coordinator, and the worst part is that all the good candidates have already been taken.
One of the drawbacks of making the Super Bowl, I suppose.
So, who could the Seahawks look to hire if Kubiak is, in fact, headed to the Raiders?
There is one candidate, Kliff Kingsbury, who has been doing the rounds for other coordinator and head coaching roles this offseason.
What he could do with the Seahawks' run game and Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a tantalizing thought. His work with the Washington Commanders and Jayden Daniels has been impressive.
The Commanders went to the NFC Championship game in his first year as offensive coordinator, and last season, with Daniels struggling to stay healthy, Washington's run game was still potent.
So Kubiak's comments didn't say he won't be the Raiders' head coach, but they also didn't say he will.
We will have to wait until after the Super Bowl for a definitive answer.
