The Seahawks could target Notre Dame's Jadarian Price in the 2026 NFL Draft. Can this college backup reshape Seattle's backfield post-free agency?
The Seattle Seahawks may be looking to reshape their backfield in the 2026 NFL Draft, and the most recent mock from ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. has them doing exactly that with their first-round pick.
With the 32nd pick in the draft, he thinks the reigning Super Bowl champions could take Notre Dame running back, Jadarian Price.
But just because he is Jeremiyah Love's backup does not mean he is a slouch by any means.
"Seattle has to make every pick count, with four total selections and picking at the end of each round," Kiper writes. "I originally considered projecting Arizona to trade up into this spot... but I wasn't convinced we'd actually get an in-division trade like that involving a quarterback pick. Instead, Seattle stays home and closes out Round 1 with our second running back off the board."
Love was by far and away the best running back in college football this past season, so you've gotta be a special kind of player to back up a talent like that.
And Price is definitely that.
He racked up 674 rushing yards in just over 100 attempts, and he was also able to get into the end zone 11 times on the ground. He also showed his ability to contribute to the passing game with a pair of scores through the air.
Seattle lost their star running back in Kenneth Walker III in free agency to the Kansas City Chiefs, which makes that AFC powerhouse even scarier than it has already been in previous seasons.
The team would usually have a very solid second option in Zach Charbonnet, but he tore his ACL in the divisional round of the playoffs against the San Francisco 49ers. He will be back at some point and contribute immediately, but the team will have to find another answer in the backfield until then.
If this projection becomes reality, the Seahawks could be adding a player capable of making an immediate impact while also developing into a key piece of their offensive future.
