Josh Allen supports former draft peer Sam Darnold and the Seahawks, cheering for a Super Bowl victory after his own playoff heartbreak.

The Seattle Seahawks will be playing in their first Super Bowl since 2015 this coming Sunday against the New England Patriots, and it will also be Sam Darnold's first appearance in the big game as a starter.

He previously appeared in the Super Bowl back in 2024 as the backup for the San Francisco 49ers when they took on the Kansas City Chiefs. But now he is the captain of the ship, and has Seattle in a very good position to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Darnold is the only quarterback from the 2018 draft class to ever make a Super Bowl, which means he would obviously be the first to win one. And one of his fellow 2018 draft picks is backing him.

In his recent appearance on "First Things First", Buffalo Bills superstar QB Josh Allen talked a bit about Super Bowl LX. While he wishes he were in it, he is going to cheer on his former draft peer from the sideline.

"He’s just continued to work hard," Allen said. "He’s been at a few different stops and obviously got his opportunity last year in Minnesota. They let him go, and now he’s playing in the Super Bowl for the Seattle Seahawks. So he’s worked extremely hard for it. And again, I’ve got nothing but love and respect for Sammy D, and I’ll be cheering and pulling for him hard."

Allen has had a few heart-breaking playoff exits so far in his career, including this season. His Bills lost to the Denver Broncos in the divisional in overtime after a game-winning field goal to send Buffalo home.

So if he can't make it there himself, he might as well cheer on Darnold from the comfort of his own home.

Many were calling the Seahawks quarterback a bust after he did not quite live up to expectations after the New York Jets took him with the No. 3 pick. He bounced around a bit, but has completely turned his career around the last two seasons.

Darnold racked up 4,048 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2025, and was also named to his second career Pro Bowl. He turned over the ball a bit more than he would have liked, but you can't complain too much when he led Seattle to their first Super Bowl in over a decade.

And while Allen gave some well-earned respect to the Patriots, he made it pretty clear who he is rooting for on Sunday.

"I have great respect for both teams. I’ve been fortunate to know Coach Vrabel for a little bit. I have a lot of respect for him. Drake Maye, obviously. I’ve got a good relationship with him. But Sam Darnold, that’s my boy. We go back to the draft."

So for those of you that will be sitting at home cheering for the Seahawks, just know that an NFL MVP is doing the same.
