With the backfield depleted by mounting injuries, Seattle eyes a veteran spark. Discover how Joe Mixon’s potential arrival could stabilize the ground game behind Sam Darnold.

The Seattle Seahawks are looking for some outside help with their run game as injuries are piling up.

Already without Zach Charbonnet, who is recovering from an ACL injury and returning to practice, and rookie Jadarian Price, who is on IR and will miss at least a month of football, the Seahawks are down to George Holani and Emanuel Wilson.

Wilson got the most burn in the 30-23 win over the L.A. Chargers, rushing for 81 yards and a touchdown from 21 carries, but it is clear the Seahawks needed more.

And the franchise clearly agrees.

Former Cincinnati Bengals and Houston Texans back Joe Mixon had a workout with Seattle as the franchise looks at adding another veteran presence to the backfield.

And now comes word the plans are to sign Mixon.

Mixon, a two-time Pro Bowler, recently played in 2024, when he rushed for 1,016 yards and 11 TDs for the Texans.

He did miss all of 2025 as he dealt with a severe ankle and foot injury, but it appears he's ready to get back on the field...and Seattle has an opening.

Now, it is just a workout, so it isn't like a signing is a formality, but the Seahawks clearly see a need to bolster the running back stocks, at least for the next month.

We know what sort of back Mixon can be, and having a tandem of him and Wilson could give the Seahawks a nice little one-two punch behind Sam Darnold while they wait for Price to return.

Also, they wouldn't have to rush Price back into the fold either, as Mixon and Wilson are likely more than capable of giving the Seahawks a good run game in the meantime.

Mixon a Seahawk? Hopefully he's a name brand who can help.
