Authorities closed the case involving a viral video alleging domestic violence and child neglect, clearing the Jets quarterback after officers found no grounds for an arrest.
Former Seattle Seahawks and current New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith has reportedly been under investigation for an alleged assault over the weekend.
A video was seen online of a woman claiming that Smith allegedly assaulted her, but that wasn't all.
The woman also posted that Smith allegedly neglected their child, who has special needs, instead choosing to play the video game "Call of Duty'' while also reportedly watching sex videos online.
In the video, Smith can be seen on the phone while the woman is screaming at him, and in her video, she wrote that Geno "beat her [expletive]" and also alleges that Smith "attacked me."
Later in the video, Smith can be seen talking to multiped officers over what transpired.
According to Andy Slater of Fox Sports, he was told that after the officers checked out the scene, they didn't take anyone into custody and that the case is now closed.
In response to the video that went viral, the reported mother of Geno's child posted on X two pictures with the caption:
"Geno always is and has been a more than capable of taking care of his son. Let's kill that narrative. Don't go onto the internet bringing my son into your web of dysfunction."
So as quickly as things heated up, they cooled down, with law enforcement officials having said they are not looking into the incident any further.
"This investigation is closed," the Davie Police spokesperson said in a statement to Yahoo.
We also aren't sure if or when Geno and his representatives or the Jets will make a public statement over the allegations.
Smith, a two-time Pro Bowler, spent five seasons with the Seahawks, throwing for 12,961 yards, 76 TDs and 36 interceptions. He also had a 28-24 record with the NFC West franchise.
After a poor 2025 season with the Las Vegas Raiders (2-13 record), Smith has now found his way to coach Aaron Glenn and the Jets for 2026, as he looks to help lead the embattled franchise out of the NFL doldrums.
