There are a host of signings the Seahawks could make, but ESPN thinks one should be under serious consideration.
The Seattle Seahawks have made it a priority this offseason to re-sign their own instead of going out and landing free agents outside the building.
Rashid Shaheed, Derick Hall, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are the three big names that have re-signed, with corner Devin Witherspoon, whom the Seahawks did pick up his fifth-year option, on the to-do list.
Given that path, the Seahawks could be on the lookout for anyone else whom they might want to re-sign or see big value in re-signing.
Of course, there are still some interesting free agents looking for jobs, but right now, I'd imagine Seattle, like all other NFL teams, will wait to see what it has in training camp before making any moves.
But is there one that the Seahawks could make before training camp begins in a little over a month?
ESPN's Aaron Schatz think so, and it is re-signing veteran defender Leonard Williams.
"The Seahawks need to be careful here, because Williams will be 32 this season and there might be a decline coming soon," Schatz wrote. "However, he's still playing at a high level, with seven sacks last season. He was named second-team All-Pro in 2025.
"According to ESPN Research, he has drawn a double-team on 66.6% of pass-rush snaps, fourth among all interior defensive linemen. Williams' contract voids in 2027, making him Seattle's biggest free agent for next offseason. Why not get him in for another couple of seasons right now?"
It is good food for thought.
Williams will be 32 when the season begins, and in his last two years in Seattle, he has been a Pro Bowler and notched 18 sacks.
Spotrac.com has his market value set at $23. 9 million APY. Now, the thing is, will the Seahawks offer that sort of money to a 32-year-old? I doubt it.
Yes, Williams has been productive in Seattle, but will the drop off come in 2026?
With his contract void after the 2026 season, the Seahawks will have a decision to make on Williams, and it could be an extension, or they might choose to move on.
But if Williams has another Pro Bowl season in 2026, if the Seahawks did want to extend him, it'll cost more.
So, do they do it now, or wait? That could be the million-dollar question.
