Shaheed has made it clear he wants to do everything he can for the franchise after signing a new deal this offseason.
Receiver/special teams ace Rashid Shaheed made it clear that he wanted to remain with the Seattle Seahawks for a long time, and after signing a new deal in the offseason, he will be.
A mid-season trade get from the New Orleans Saints last year, Shaheed's speed was on show on special teams, taking multiple kicks to the house, most notably against San Francisco in the playoffs at Lumen Field.
But we know that he is more than a one-trick pony, and it appears Seattle knew it as well; otherwise, it wouldn't have agreed to the three-year, $51 million deal this offseason.
Shaheed has shown his value to Mike Macdonald's team, mostly as a special teams ace, and it was clear that he wanted to build on what was created last season.
Being a mid-season addition, his future beyond 2025 was anything but secure, but now, as training camp rolls on for the Super Bowl champs, Shaheed, who was on Seattle Sports' Brock and Salk, is ready to continue to build his Seattle career.
"Just kind of spoke it into existence," Shaheed said of his contract. "I'm glad I was able to come back and get everything worked out. This is exactly where I wanted to be and I wanted to make sure that everybody else felt that and knew that. I enjoyed my time, my short amount of time here, and I just this team, I want to be a part of and continue to build the legacy here in this blue. I'm here, and I'm ready to work."
With Jaxon Smith-Njigba being "the" guy in the passing game this offseason, it was clear that the offense needed someone else to help take the load off of No. 11.
Well, for Fleury, that has been Shaheed.
We know he can be a dependable receiver, as he posted over 700 yards and 5 TDs for the Saints in 2023. Something similar for the Seahawks would be ideal in 2026.
Having gotten a lot of work in the offense this offseason, it does appear that Fleury has a plan for Shaheed and a way to utilize his terrorizing speed. He's been seen on short and intermediate routes wreaking havoc, so that is something we will watch for as camp rolls on.
Shaheed has his future secured; now he's ready to secure his Seahawks legacy too.
