It was yet another poor offensive showing from Seattle against Chicago, leaving many wondering exactly where the unit goes from here.
The Seattle Seahawks' 34-17 loss to the Chicago Bears at Lumen Field on Monday night was perhaps the game where we look at the offense and think "yeah, they're in trouble."
With Brian Fleury now being questioned after yet another so-so display offensively, in a game that saw Jaxon Smith-Njigba again be a one-man band, others failed to help pick up the slack.
It took until late in the third quarter for another receiver not named Smith-Njigba to have a reception. That isn't a winning formula.
Plus, the Seahawks struggled to run the ball consistently, ending the game with just 81 yards, 20 of which came from Sam Darnold on two scrambles.
Oh, and the Seahawks were 1/11 on third down. Yuck.
So, there is a lot to work through here, and for Darnold, in giving his assessment of the offense, knows a lot of things need fixing.
"Not our best," Darnold said. "Just offensively couldn't really feel like we couldn't get anything going. We had a couple good drives. I feel like early on, I had a third down where Jax [Smith-Njigba] was there and I should have gotten it to him early. Credit to those guys, they had a good plan and executed at a high level.
"There's a lot of things that we can do better and need to do better moving forward."
The Seahawks now drop to 4-4 and now real questions are being asked of this offense.
So many passes to running backs behind the line of scrimmage, Darnold was running for his life, while also being sacked three times and he had an interception, which was just bad luck.
But now questions are being aimed at Fleury.
The first-time coordinator leads a unit that is averaging just 23 points per game (ranks 15th) and hasn't scored more than 20 points in their past three games.
Last week against the Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle seemed to have found its groove offensively, but was brought back down to earth with a serious thud by Chicago.
Was this just a bad night for the Seahawks? Or was it something more nefarious?
Either way, at 4-4 and after a performance like that, a lot of fans and media personalities are beginning to question if this offense is good enough to help push Seattle towards the playoffs, let alone aim for back-to-back Super Bowls.
