The Seahawks' offense was superb in the win over the Chiefs, especially on third down as Fleury's unit kept the chains moving all night.
The Seattle Seahawks' offense was a big bright spot for Mike Macdonald in the 20-3 win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Lumen Field on Sunday night.
The offense, led by Sam Darnold, was nearly automatic on third downs, converting 11 of 16, most of which were 3rd-and-7 or longer.
Brian Fleury's offense ran 69 plays, averaged 5.9 yards per play, managed 24 first downs, didn't allow a sack, only punted twice, and won time of possession by over 11 minutes.
The only downside was going 0/3 in the red zone, which luckily, they weren't punished for.
In the lead-up to the game, all eyes were on Darnold for his turnovers, and while he did have one, other than that, he was good.
He completed 20 of his 28 passes for 257 yards and a touchdown, while also picking up a couple of third-downs with his legs, rushing for 17 yards on two carries.
And speaking after the game, Sam was happy with the overall performance from Seattle, especially on third down.
"Overall, just a better performance from us," Darnold said. "Overall, just good football, offense, defense, special teams, really defense. The way that they played all night, it was awesome to watch. The way that we were able to stay on the field too as an offense was huge."
The third down conversions were perhaps the biggest surprise of the night.
Despite the Chiefs getting Seattle into third and long almost at will, the Seahawks managed to convert them for first downs at will, which would have made defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo tear his hair out.
But despite the outstanding numbers, Darnold wants to avoid being in that situation again.
"I think, well, we got to stay out of the third and longs. I think that's another thing too is like there's so much to get better at, even with the win," Darnold added. "So, we're going to take a look at that and see how we can [be] better and stay out of those third-and-long situations.
"But again, our guys did a really good job of executing. Our coaches did a really good job throughout the week of putting the plan together and putting us in a good position out there."
The Seahawks got the win they needed, and did it in a dominant fashion, as attention now turns to the Chicago Bears in Week 8.
And if Seattle maintains this level of performance on offense, the franchise is going to win a lot of games in 2026.
