The Seattle Seahawks have another weapon for Sam Darnold with Emmanuel Henderson Jr. joining the squad in the sixth round.
There's a new wideout in Seattle, as the Seahawks grabbed former Kansas wide receiver Emmanuel Henderson Jr. with the 199th overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Another Day 3 trade netted the Seahawks the pick alongside a seventh-round selection at No. 242 overall from the New York Jets. Seattle moved back slightly from No. 188 but still secured a potential late-round steal in Henderson.
The former Jayhawk spent only one season in Lawrence, as he was at Alabama for three seasons prior to transferring out. In his lone year at Kansas, Henderson lead the team with 45 catches for 766 yards and five touchdowns.
Not only is Henderson viable as a receiving threat, he has showcased lethality on special teams. Alongside his 766 yards through the air, he racked up 455 yards off 18 kickoff returns, even taking one for a score.
His explosiveness in the return game netted him the highest kickoff return average in the Big 12 and earned him All-Big 12 First Team honors at kick returner. Henderson was also an All-Big 12 Third Team member at receiver.
For head coach Mike Macdonald, Henderson provides experience and versatility all over the field. As a sixth-round selection, he could more than exceed the usual expectations of a prospect taken that deep in the draft.
While he won't be claiming the title of WR 1 anytime soon, thanks to the extension of superstar Jaxson Smith-Njigba, Henderson could earn his way onto the field for a squad that is competing at the highest level in the NFL.
Regardless of if he's burning past defenders in the return game or providing another option for quarterback Sam Darnold in the passing scheme, Henderson is a name that Seahawk fans may want to keep an eye on when the season gets underway in a few months.
Seattle has two more picks to round out their 2026 NFL Draft class, if there are not any more trades, and the Seahawks have piled up an impressive lineup as the league's defending champions.
