The Seattle Seahawks will go on the road for their first NFC West clash against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2.
Without Sam Darnold, Drew Lock will be at quarterback against a Cardinals defense that feasted on Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert last week.
It has been a long time between games for Seattle, having played on Wednesday last week, so Mike Macdonald and his team have had ample time to prepare for this one, and given what Arizona produced on both sides of the ball in L.A., this is a genuinely tough division matchup.
The Cardinals put up 393 yards of total offense, while limiting the Chargers to just 268. Plus, Herbert was sacked three times and was picked off, too.
So, in their home opener, Arizona is going to feel good about their chances at starting the season 2-0.
Of course, Seattle isn't a slouch. Having kept the New England Patriots' offense to just 10 points, so the Cardinals could have a tough time moving the ball on Macdonald's defense.
But we know what we're getting from that group. Offensively is where the key storyline is.
Can Lock play the role of bus driver as he did against New England?
With Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Jadarian Price, Rashid Shaheed, AJ Barner, Cooper Kupp, and now Tory Horton, who is back, Lock does have some nice weapons to attack this Cardinals defense with.
If Darnold were healthy, I'd imagine the Seahawks would be heavy favorites, but now? The Cardinals must fancy their chances going up against Lock.
The backup has gotten all reps this week and is leaning on his "schedule" as he prepares for his first start in a couple of years.
Road games in Arizona are tough, as the Seahawks managed a 23-20 win last season in Week 4.
This looms as a classic NFC West battle.
