Seahawks Bolster 'Dark Side' With Stud CB In Latest Mock Draft cover image

The Seahawks' defense was elite in 2025, but Mike Macdonald isn't resting on his laurels in the draft.

The Seattle Seahawks are still celebrating their Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots, and like most other NFL teams, their front office is already getting work started on 2026.

With the Seahawks not having a genuine weakness on their roster in 2025, they were hard to play against, and being led by the league's best defense certainly helps.

But with free agency under a month away, and then the draft soon after that, there isn't a lot of time to figure out which positions need your attention the most.

And this is especially true for a Super Bowl champion.

We have seen several mock drafts fly off the shelves in the past couple of weeks, with all eyes on the top of the draft order.

But the Seahawks, thanks to their Super Bowl win, will pick last in the first round (No. 32), and that means that a lot of the "top-tier" talent will likely be off the board.

Still, we think general manager John Schneider will find value.

And PFF's Max Chadwick thinks so too, as he has Seattle selecting Tennessee corner Colton Hood in the first round of his latest mock draft.

"Devon Witherspoon may have been the NFL's highest-graded cornerback this season, but the Seahawks still need more help at the position," Chadwick wrote. "Hood’s 80.3 PFF coverage grade in 2025 ranked sixth among SEC cornerbacks."

According to several scouting reports, Hood has the ability to be a lockdown corner, having done some nice jobs on some of college football's best receivers, plus he has good speed and explosiveness to limit big yards after the catch plays.

So Macdonald could do with some more depth at the corner spot, and Hood could be a nice player to develop over the coming years.

Devin Witherspoon is the leader of the secondary, but it is worth noting that Riq Woolen is a restricted free agent and the Seahawks might lose a key member of the "Dark Side."

Spotrac.com has his market value set at $8.2 million APY for the 26-year-old. So a decision has to be made on his future.

And if the Seahawks have any intention of going younger at cornerback, and Hood is on the board when it comes time to pick, Seattle will get a nice addition to their star-studded defense.
